A Letter to The Editor of Ingersoll Times Newspaper,
Saturday, January 12, 2013
I wanted to write this piece because in the midst of all the depressing media coverage regarding our struggling economy, there are still some great local people aspiring to overcome the current situation.
For the past two years, I have had the privilege of getting to know two individuals with a plan and determination to make their dream of building a local business a reality.
Steve Ross and Todd Carr started Ingersoll Heating and Cooling with limited resources. The goal was simple: support the local community while building a successful business in their home town. They stared with two vans and a small garage.
Over the past two years they have continually invested back into their small business. As of January they have taken over 113 Mutual Street across from the OPP station. The building sat vacant for over a year, and although they had several options with regards to a future location in which to build their business, they decided to stay in the heart of Ingersoll.
They will now be able to service Ingersoll with a modest size location. The new location will house a sheet metal shop, heating and cooling service hub and Ingersoll’s only fireplace showroom with burning displays.
These two guys were told by everyone two years ago the economy was tanking, why would you ever start your own business? The truth is if we are to get out of this economic crisis, we need guys like this willing to build small business while at the same time supporting their local community. We can’t continue to rely on the government to bail us out.
I applaud Steve and Todd for forging ahead while everyone said it could not be done.
Brian Nelson, London
